Introduction to Digital Humanities

Course description

A methods survey for students entering digital humanities work from any discipline. We move through text analysis, mapping, minimal computing, and project critique, with the explicit goal that each of you leaves with one small finished thing rather than four unfinished ones.

Learning outcomes

• Evaluate a digital project on its methods, not its interface
• Build and publish a small, sustainable scholarly artifact
• Read code critically enough to know what a tool is doing to your data
